James L. Lockwood Jr, President
President since 1979, Mr. Lockwood has been involved in the daily operations of Lockwood
Brothers for over 37 years. He is a designer of sophisticated test and construction
equipment including a 240 ton, 49 foot jacking tower and an apparatus for the installation
of tunnel ceiling panels in the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Addition. Mr. Lockwood has a
Masters of Business Administration degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor of
Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia.
Robert L. Phillips Sr, Vice President
Mr. Phillips has been with Lockwood Brothers for nearly 50 years. He has been directly
responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of heavy hauling projects of
pieces weighing up to 1100 tons. Because of his extensive experience with complex
intermodal transportation moves, Mr. Phillips has been selected to act as a consultant to
the U.S. Department of Energy for handling radioactive equipment being transported from
U.S. nuclear reactor power plants. Mr. Phillips has a Bachelor of Science degree in
Business Administration from the University of North Carolina.
Garfield Boyd, Project Manager, Heavy Lift – Chesapeake
Mr. Boyd has been in the crane, rigging and hauling business for over 29 years. He
started as a crane oiler, moving up to a crane operator and from there moving to a
dispatch position for 14 years. He is now a project estimator and opened the Chesapeake
Branch for Lockwood Brothers. He has been involved in projects such as the Berkley Bridge
motor replacement, shipboard rigging of electronic equipment and mast replacement on a
United States Aircraft Carrier. He is the representative to such companies as B.A.E.
Systems Norfolk Yard, Sumitomo Machinery plant, Carrier Systems, Norfolk Naval Base and
many others. Mr. Boyd works with the Hampton dispatch on a daily basis to keep the fleet
moving to meet our customers’ needs.
Daniel K. Clark, Project Manager, Intermodal Transportation
Mr. Clark has been with Lockwood Brothers for over 23 years. He has been involved with
numerous intermodal hauling/rigging/rail/tug and barge transportation projects during this
time frame. Most of his projects involve transport and handling of over-dimensional and
overweight cargo (up to 500 tons) that require barge transport with roll on-roll off
capabilities or specialized rail and heavy hauling for delivery to the end customer.
Every project is individually planned for the most cost effective solution for the
customer. He has been involved with projects along the Atlantic Coast, Gulf of Mexico and
Great Lakes. Mr. Clark has an Associate of Arts degree from Wesley College and a Bachelor
of Science degree in Business Administration from Delaware State University.

Randy M. Jones, Project Manager
Mr. Jones has worked for Lockwood Brothers for 26 years in various positions in the field
as well as in the office. His Project Management experience consists of loading railcars,
performing tie downs, transporting, and installation of transformers as well as gas
turbines, generators, and rotors. He has worked on special projects for Chem Nuclear,
Dominion Power, Nem USA and BBC Chartering. Mr. Jones has also assisted in the delivery of
fuel casks for the Surry Nuclear Power Plant, Surry VA. His office experience consists of
scheduling all labor, equipment and materials for all operations corporate wide on a daily
